Topics include: Updates on CE Classes, the new Scholarship Program and Chapter news.
Message from the President
At our Summer Board meeting we had great topic discussion and I am happy to see that most of our Chapters stared the year by offering CE and educational topics to our members.
Our Education Committee continues to review our current education classes and work toward developing new CE courses that can be presented at Chapter and Association meetings. Our Education Chair reported that in 2015-2016 a combined 60 CE were offered by MAIW and our partner vendors. If you know someone that may be interested in teaching our courses at your Chapter meetings please reach out to Glynnis Walbridge or someone in her committee as well as me.
I am especially excited that our very own Beatrice Grant will be teaching Public Speaking for MAIW. Beatrice comes with many years of experience in Public Speaking and we are fortunate to have her. Many of Chapters have scheduled Beatrice to teach at their Chapter meetings. This course is especially important to our members to help them in their Personal and Professional development.
Have you shared with your employer the courses that MAIW offers to their members? Remember if we do not educate our employer and co- workers we miss that window of opportunity. Please share your meeting registrations with your co-workers.
Carolyn Jenkins who leads our Project Invest Program works endlessly to connect with High Schools across the state to introduce this free program sponsored in conjunction with the Independent Insurance Agents of America and MAIA. Project Invest a curriculum that is geared to leading students toward a career in the insurance industry or career possibilities.
Our Scholarship Program is ready to be released by our Education Committee. The MAIW Scholarship if offered to any member of MAIW. I will be sending the Scholarship instructions and application to Directors soon.
Begin thinking about who you would like to nominate Member of the Year to be voted at our February Association. Applications will be e-mailed along with the Scholarship application.
Every member of the MAIW Keystone Arch plays an important role. Your input is valued and I would like to hear from you on your thoughts or ideas to lock in the MAIW Arch.
Yours in Fellowship,
